March 29, 2006 -- Uzbekistan and South Korea today signed an agreement allowing South Korean companies to explore and develop Uzbekistan's oil and gas fields, and other natural resources, including zinc, gold, and uranium.

The accord comes on the second day of Uzbek President Islam Karimov's state visit to South Korea and following a meeting between Karimov and his South Korean counterpart, Roh Moo-hyun.

More than 15 documents are expected to be signed during Karimov's three-day trip to South Korea, which began on March 28.
