President Of Russia's Adygeya Republic Submits Resignation
April 04, 2006
April 4, 2006 -- The president of Russia's North Caucasus republic of Adygeya has submitted his resignation to the republic's parliament.
However, the parliamentary speaker declined to announce a vote on Khazret Sovmen's resignation.
He also failed to open Sovmen's letter, which apparently contained an explanation of Sovmen's decision.
Sovmen, a wealthy businessman, was elected to the post in 2002. His term was to expire next year.
