EU Concerned About Rule Of Law In Bulgaria

April 13, 2006 -- The European Union says it is concerned about the weak rule of law in Bulgaria, and is pressing the government to make quick progress in order to join the bloc next year, as planned.

Enlargement Commissioner Olli Rehn, on a visit to Sofia, called for improvements in the independence of the judiciary and increased efforts against corruption and organized crime.
