Rice Calls On Libya To Free Bulgarian Nurses

April 28, 2006 -- U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice today called on Libya to free five Bulgarian nurses accused of deliberately infecting Libyan children with HIV.

Rice, speaking in Sofia, said Washington is working with the EU and Libya to resolve the case.


The nurses and a Palestinian doctor are awaiting a new trial in Tripoli next month after Libya's Supreme Court overturned death sentences passed on them.
