BISHKEK, May 2, 2006 (RFE/RL) -- Thirteen out of 15 ministers in Kyrgyzstan's cabinet today submitted their resignations.

Government spokeswoman Roza Daudova said that ministers were responding to a parliamentary resolution passed on April 28 that said the cabinet was not performing its job in a satisfactory manner.

The only ministers not to have tendered their resignations hold the transportation and culture portfolios.

Initial reports, citing Deputy Prime Minister Adakhan Madumarov, suggest President Kurmanbek Bakiev has refused to accept the ministers' resignation.
