May 9, 2006 -- President Mikheil Saakashvili says tensions in Georgia's relations with Russia are temporary.

Speaking to World War II veterans, he said "some people in Russia" are seeking to make life more difficult for ordinary Georgians, but stated his conviction that Georgians and Russians "will find a common language."

A recent Russian ban on some Georgian imports, including wine, has added to tensions between the two neighbors.
