Iran Not Afraid Of U.S. Attack

Mottaki said today the United States was not in a position to "create a new crisis" in the region because it was already facing "a lot of difficulties" in both Iraq and Afghanistan.

The foreign minister was speaking to the AP news agency on the sidelines of a Nonaligned Movement meeting in Malaysia. The 114-nation group of mostly developing countries was set to issue a statement on the Iranian nuclear crisis later today.

The United States has been pushing for binding UN sanctions on Iran, unless Tehran gives up uranium processing.
