June 13, 2006 -- Tajik officials said on June 12 they have detained two alleged members of the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan (IMU).

The IMU is considered a terrorist organization by Central Asian governments and the United States.

Last month, a Tajik court sentenced six IMU members to up to 19 years in prison.

Tajik police said the two who have been arrested -- a Tajik, Toychi Sharipov, and an Uzbek national, Mahmadnozir Juraev -- are charged with illegally crossing the Tajik-Uzbek border in 2005.
