NATO Names New Envoy To Afghanistan

June 29, 2006 -- NATO today chose a Dutch diplomat, Daan Everts, to be its new envoy to Afghanistan.
Everts, who is also the Dutch ambassador to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, is to take over from Turkish diplomat Hikmet Cetin in August.
The envoy is responsible for NATO's relations with the Afghan government.
NATO is preparing to take over security operations in southern Afghanistan.
