Iraq Ready For Talks With Turkey Over Kurdish Rebels

July 3, 2006 -- Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari said today Iraq was ready to revive three-way talks with Turkey and the United States over how to curb Turkish Kurd rebels based in northern Iraq.

The issue is important for Turkey as it seeks to stop Kurdish rebels' infiltration from Iraq. Ankara has long pressed the United States and Iraq to purge northern Iraq of the separatist Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK).
