August 10, 2006 -- The family of a 9-year-old Tajik girl stabbed to death in Russia two years ago has lost an appeal for a retrial of her attackers.
Russia's Supreme Court today upheld a ruling by a lower court in St. Petersburg, which in March found seven teenagers guilty of hooliganism and cleared another of the murder of Khursheda Sultanova in February 2004.
The seven were sentenced to prison terms ranging from 18 months to 5 and 1/2 years.
