Iraq, Jordan To Cooperate In Oil Sector

August 15, 2006 -- Iraq and Jordan have signed a memorandum of understanding that involves cooperation in the oil sector, including the laying of a pipeline and supplying Jordan with oil.

Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki made the announcement after meeting with his Jordanian counterpart, Maruf Bakhit, in Baghdad.


Analysts say Jordan is hoping to buy Iraqi oil at preferential rates.
