EU Seeks Closer Cooperation With U.S. On Terror

September 11, 2006 -- The European Union today expressed renewed determination to fight global terrorism.

In a statement marking the fifth anniversary of the September 11 attacks on U.S. targets, European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso said Europe is more determined than ever to tackle the causes and the consequences of terrorism.

He said Washington and Brussels need to share more information in the hunt for terror suspects and to prevent the recruitment of terrorists.
