September 18, 2006 -- Belarus says it has signed military contracts with Venezuela worth more than $1 billion.
Security Council Secretary Viktor Sheiman said a cooperation agreement on oil extraction was also agreed.
Sheiman, who visited Venezuela earlier this month, told Belarusian television that Minsk had established a foundation to continue the "fruitful" cooperation between the two countries.
