Croatia Working To Return War Refugees

October 5, 2006 -- Croatia's foreign minister says his country has spent $5 billion helping ethnic-Serb refugees from the 1990s Balkan wars move back to their former homes.

Speaking to the European Parliament's foreign affairs committee in Brussels, Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic said the government was also working to improve the treatment of minorities in Croatia.


Zagreb hopes to join the EU in 2009.
