October 26, 2006 -- Russian print media today honored murdered investigative journalist Anna Politkovskaya with a special free publication.
The 16-page tribute, funded by the Russian Journalists' Union, was distributed across Russia and contained articles on Politkovskaya's major investigations.
Politkvoskaya was an outspoken critic of the Kremlin and her October 7 contract-style killing was seen as a symbol of the problems faced by independent journalists in Russia.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has promised a thorough investigation of the killing. Her newspaper, "Novaya gazeta," is offering a $1 million reward for information that leads to the conviction of her killers.
