TEHRAN, November 9, 2006 (RFE/RL) -- Several websites have been blocked in Iran over the past 24 hours, Radio Farda reports.


Among them are advarnews.us, which belongs to Iran's main reformist student group, and meydaan.com, which covers women's issues.


Iran has been labeled an enemy of the Internet by the French media watchdog Reporters Without Borders.

CALLING FOR MORE RIGHTS: Although women played key roles in Iran's 1979 Islamic Revolution, the place of women in post-revolutionary society has been a vexing question.
