Five Police Officers, 11 U.S. Troops Killed In Iraq

Iraqis grieving on December 6 for a victim of violence in Baghdad (epa)

December 7, 2006 -- At least five police officers were reported killed in Iraq today, including the deputy chief of police in the central Sa'adun district of Baghdad.


Colonel Bassim Mudim Abdullah and two of his guards died in a drive-by shooting.


In Al-Fallujah, west of the capital, a car bomb killed at least two police officers.


In other news, the U.S. military said a total of 11 American soldiers were confirmed killed in Iraq on December 6.
