Revamped Kyrgyz Constitution Published In Official Media

January 16, 2007 -- Kyrgyzstan's revamped constitution has been published in official media outlets, one day after President Kurmanbek Bakiev signed it into law.

The constitutional changes, which lawmakers adopted on December 30, give Bakiev enhanced powers.


They reverse a previous set of legal amendments voted in November that limited the presidency's authority and that were published in official media only one month after being signed into law by the head of state.
