The Russian Foreign Ministry said Armenia's Vardan Oskanian and Azerbaijan's Elmar Mammadyarov held talks with their Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov, along with U.S. and French diplomats.

After the talks, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said that "issues remained" and that more discussions were needed.

The Armenian Foreign Ministry said both sides have agreed to pursue negotiations.

Nagorno-Karabakh is a mostly ethnic Armenian enclave within Azerbaijan. It has been occupied by ethnic Armenian forces since a six-year conflict ended in 1994 with a shaky cease-fire.
