January 28, 2007 -- Reports say gunmen ambushed the director-general of Iraq's Industry Ministry as he drove to work in Baghdad today, killing him, his daughter, and two others.

Police said gunmen in a car sprayed Adal Abd al-Mehsun al-Lami's vehicle with bullets in Baghdad's western Yarmuk district.

Also in Baghdad, five female students were killed in a mortar strike. Earlier, the U.S. military reported the deaths of seven U.S. soldiers in Iraq since January 25.
