Kyrgyz President Fills Final Ministry Posts

These appointments followed the approval of a new government structure by lawmakers and the naming on February 6 and 7 of several government ministers to serve under Prime Minister Azim Isabekov.
Today's appointees include Ednan Karabayev, a former foreign minister (1992-94) who has been renamed to that post.
Shailoobek Niyazov, Nurlan Sulaimanov, Akylbek Japarov, and Sultan Rayev remain at their posts as the ministers of health, transportation and communication, finance, and culture, respectively.
Kanybek Osmonaliev becomes new education and science minister. Igor Chudinov will head the newly established Ministry of Industry, Energy, and Fuel Resources.
Other appointments are Sabyrbek Moldokulov (Economic Development and Trade), Talant Uzakbayev (Reprocessing Industry), and a fresh term for Emergency Situations Ministry Janysh Rustenbekov.
Bakiev made his first appointments on February 6, when Daniyar Usonov and Dosbol Nur-uulu were named as deputy prime ministers. Ministers selected the same day were Bolotbek Nogoibaev as interior minister, Defense Minister Ismail Isakov, Marat Kayipov as justice minister, and Oktomkhan Abdullaeva as labor and social-protection minister.
Murat Sutalinov was reappointed to chair the National Security Committee.
Bakiev is reportedly scheduled to meet with the new cabinet on February 9.
