Deputy Chief Prosecutor Of Daghestan Killed


(RFE/RL) April 1, 2007 -- The deputy chief prosecutor of the southern Russian Daghestan Republic has been killed.


The regional Interior Ministry said the bodies of Abdu Basir Omarov and another man were found today at a house outside the capital, Makhachkala.

They had both been shot.

Daghestan, which borders Chechnya, is often the scene of fighting between criminal gangs and battles between federal forces and separatists.
