Croatia Indicts Former Official For War Crimes

April 16, 2007 -- A prosecutor in the Croatian city of Osijek today indicted a former high-ranking official and six others for war crimes he allegedly ordered against Serbs during the conflict in Croatia.

The prosecutor demanded the arrest of Branimir Glavas, a top official of late President Franjo Tudjman's Christian Democratic Union.


According to the indictment, Glavas ordered the illegal detention, torture, and murder of Serb and other civilians during the 1991-95 war. Ten civilians were killed.


The other six defendants are already in prison.
