April 22, 2207 -- Russian opposition leader Garry Kasparov has again criticized Russian authorities over crackdowns at anti-Kremlin demonstrations last weekend.

Former chess champion Kasparov on April 21 accused police who beat and detained protesters of "brutality and cruelty."

Kasparov met the same day with prosecutors in connection with a lawmaker's demand for an inquiry into whether police acted illegally in detaining him during a protest in Moscow on April 14.
