Iran Agrees To Talks With U.S. On Iraqi Security
May 13, 2007 -- Iran says it has agreed to talks with the United States on improving security in Iraq.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad Ali Hosseini is quoted as saying details will be announced this week.
The United States has responded to Hosseini's remarks by saying it is willing to talk to Iranian officials about the security situatno in Iraq.
Lea Anne McBride, a spokeswoman for U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney, made the remarks in Cairo today to reporters who are traveling with Cheney.
Meanwhile, the Iranian newspaper "Ham-Mihan" was being published and distributed in Iran today, seven years after it was shut down in a judiciary clampdown against the reformist press.
Iran today again ruled out any suspension of its attempts to enrich nuclear material, saying its nuclear program is only for peaceful civilian purposes -- not to make nuclear weapons.
Many countries say Tehran is trying to build nuclear weaopns in violation of a nuclear non-proliferation treaty.
