New Charges Await Kazakh President's Son-In-Law

June 11, 2007 -- Kazakh Interior Ministry spokesman Bagdat
Kozhakhmetov said today that an investigation into the activities of former
Ambassador to Austria Rakhat Aliev has uncovered new facts and there
could be more charges filed against him.

Aliev, who is the son-in-law of Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbaev, faces charges of abduction and assault in Kazakhstan and is being charged with money laundering in Austria.

Kazakhstan is working to have Aliev extradited from Austria.
