Russia Says It Will Meet Kyoto Emissions Target

June 16, 2007 -- Russia says it will meet its greenhouse gas emissions levels as stipulated by the Kyoto treaty.
Deputy economic development minister Andrei Sharonov said "even by the most optimistic forecasts of economic development," Russia will not exceed its emissions target under the protocol.
Sharonov also said Russia is open to joint projects with foreign investors to improve the emissions efficiency of its industries.
