EU Eases Visa Rules For Ukrainians

June 19, 2007 -- The European Union has eased visa rules for Ukrainians, now allowing children under 18, retirees and several other categories of citizens to obtain visas free of charge.

Ukraine cancelled visa requirements for EU citizens in 2005. Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko welcomed the EU move as a major step in Ukrainian-EU relations.


Yushchenko is due to visit the EU headquarters in Brussels on June 21 and hold talks with EU Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso and foreign policy chief Javier Solana.
