Iran Probes Photojournalist's Death

July 02, 2007

A memorial for Zahra Kazemi (epa)

July 2, 2007 (RFE/RL) -- Iran's Supreme Court is reviewing for a second day the case of Iranian-Canadian photojournalist Zahra Kazemi, who died while in Iranian custody in 2003, Radio Farda reported.

Lawyers for her family told Radio Farda that they have exposed flaws in the probe.

Kazemi was arrested while photographing a protest outside Evin prison in Tehran and died in detention, reportedly as a result of violence.

In 2005, the Iranian Judiciary acquitted an intelligence agent accused of the crime.
