Kyrgyz Ex-Premier Says Government Excludes Opposition

August 3, 2007 (RFE/RL) -- Former Kyrgyz Prime Minister Feliks Kulov today accused the government of trying to discriminate against opposition leaders and exclude them from politics, RFE/RL's Kyrgyz Service reported.


Kulov is the head of the opposition United Front For a Worthy Future for Kyrgyzstan, and co-organized antigovernment protests in April that lasted nine days.


On August 1, he was charged with creating mass public disorder for his role in the protests.


Kulov's lawyer has said he could face up to 10 years in prison if found guilty.
