TEXT SIZE - +
Prague, 24 December 2003 (RFE/RL) -- More violence is reported today from the Kurdish part of Iraq and the capital Baghdad. A suicide bombing killed four people, including the bomber, and wounded 15 when a pick-up truck blew up in front of Interior Ministry offices in the Iraqi Kurdish city of Arbil today.

Officials say two policemen and a civilian died when the pick-up exploded.

Police reports from Baghdad say that a minibus detonated a roadside bomb in a Baghdad traffic tunnel today, killing one civilian and wounding two others.

Earlier this morning, reports said guns fell silent in Baghdad after hours of heavy fighting between U.S. forces and insurgents in the city. Few details are immediately available of the overnight battle.

Meanwhile, the U.S. military announced that a member of the Iraqi security forces was killed in action in the northern city of Mosul yesterday.
