Belarus Bans Entry To Norwegian Politicians

Belarus border guards have banned two Norwegian politicians from entering the country.

Reports on May 9 said Emil Andre Erstad and Line Nordhaug were aboard a Lithuania-Belarus train with tickets to see the hockey game on May 10 in Minsk.

The World Hockey Championships started on May 9 in Minsk.

Reports said Belarus border guards on May 8 turned away the two Norwegians at the border and put on a train headed to Vilnius, telling the two they were on a list of people banned from entering Belarus.

On May 7, the head of the Swedish human rights organization Ostgruppen Martin Uggla was detained on arrival at the Minsk airport and told he was on a list of people banned from entering Belarus.

Uggla was deported the next day.
