Belarusian prosecutors say that the man who confessed to carrying out a bombing in the Minsk subway in April 2011 and who was sentenced to death in November has refused to ask for clemency.
Dzmitry Kanavalau, who confessed to carrying out the bombing that killed 15 and wounded about 200, has reportedly officially declared that his sentence was legal and that he will not appeal it.
Uladzislau Kavalyou, who was also convicted of assisting in carrying out the blast and also sentenced to death, has applied for clemency.
Officials have not yet scheduled a hearing of the commission that will make a decision on that appeal.
