MONDAY, February 20:

Azerbaijan/WTO: Azerbaijani officials begin talks in Geneva to join the World Trade Organization (to February 24).

Iran/IAEA: A delegation of the UN's International Atomic Energy Agency headed by IAEA Deputy Director-General Herman Nackaerts visits Iran (to February 21).

Macedonia: The UN envoy in the name-issue talks between Macedonia and Greece, Matthew Nimetz, visits Skopje (to February 21).

Russia/Ukraine: Russian Duma speaker Sergei Naryshkin meets with Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych in Kyiv.

UN: World Day of Social Justice.

U.S./Russia: Woodrow Wilson Center holds a discussion titled  "The Fate of the 'Reset' During Political Open Seasons in Russia and the U.S.."


TUESDAY, February 21:

Belarus: The trial of Syarhey Kavalenka, a prominent opposition activist charged with violating probation rules, to begin in the Pershamayski District Court in Vitsyebsk.

Georgia: Georgia's richest man, Bidzina Ivanishvili, plans to present his Georgian Dream political coalition during a press-conference in Tbilisi.

Kosovo/Serbia: European Union-brokered talks between Serbia and Kosovo are set to resume in Brussels.

Russia: A group of 26 countries vehemently opposed to the EU's aviation-emissions-trading scheme meet in Moscow to discuss a plan of action.

UN: International Mother Language Day.


WEDNESDAY, February 22:

Armenia: EURONEST Committee on Social Affairs, Education, Culture, and Civil Society to hold a meeting in Yerevan.

Belarus/IMF: A mission of the International Monetary Fund visits Minsk (to March 6).

Georgia: U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense Celeste Wallander visits Tbilisi (February 24).

Ukraine: PACE rapporteur Marieluise Beck conducts a fact-finding visit to Kyiv in connection with the preparation of her report on the rule of law in Council of Europe member states (to February 24).


THURSDAY, February 23:

Afghanistan: Amnesty International launches a report titled "Fleeing War, Finding Misery: The Plight Of The Internally Displaced In Afghanistan."

Kyrgyzstan/Russia: Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambaev visits Moscow (to February 25).

OSCE: OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Winter Meeting begins in Vienna (to February 24).

Russia: Russian opposition plans to hold protest rallies in Moscow and other cities of Russia.

World: The 84th annual Academy Awards (Oscars) to be announced in Hollywood.
