MONDAY, July 2:

Afghanistan: Chatham House hosts a discussion titled "The Media of Afghanistan: Challenges of Transition" in London.

EU: European Parliament holds its Plenary Session in Strasbourg (to July 5).

Iran: Iran holds military exercises with surface-to-surface missiles in the county's central desert (to July 3).

Macedonia/Kazakhstan: Macedonian President Georgi Ivanov visits Astana (to July 3).

Kyrgyzstan/Kazakhstan: Kyrgyz Prime Minister Omurbek Babanov visits Astana (to July 3).

Ukraine: Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych meets with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon and Armenian President Serzh Sarkisian in Kyiv.

UN: The United Nation conference on the arms trade treaty opens in New York (July 27).

TUESDAY, July 3:

Armenia: European Council President Herman Van Rompuy visits Yerevan (to July 4).

Azerbaijan: Argentinian Foreign Minister Hector Timerman visits Baku (to July 4).

Belarus: Independence Day.

Georgia: The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe's (PACE) rapporteur and Swedish parliamentarian Tina Acketoft is expected to visit Tskhinvali.

Iran: Istanbul hosts a technical follow-up meeting between Iran and world powers to discuss Tehran's nuclear program.

Russia: Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev to visit Kuril Islands.

Ukraine: The European Court of Human Rights to deliver a chamber judgment in the case of former Ukrainian Interior Minister Yuriy Lutsenko at a public hearing in Strasbourg.


WEDNESDAY, July 4:

Georgia: European Council President Herman Van Rompuy visits Tbilisi (to July 5).

Russia: Kazan hosts the Eurasian Forum of cities.

Ukraine: Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych holds news conference in Kyiv. The press conference has reportedly been postponed.

Ukraine: The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe's (PACE) rapporteur Andrea Rigoni makes a fact-finding visit to Ukraine.


THURSDAY, July 5:

Azerbaijan: European Council President Herman Van Rompuy visits Baku.

Azerbaijan: NATO Special Representative for the South Caucasus and Central Asia James Appathurai visits Baku (to July 6).

OSCE: OSCE's Parliamentary Assembly opens in Monaco to discuss Afghanistan, Belarus, Georgia, Iran, and Russia during its sessions (to July 9).

Russia: Kaliningrad hosts a meeting of the Council of CIS defense ministers, chaired by Russian Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov.


FRIDAY, July 6:

Balkans: Dubrovnik hosts the annual Croatia Summit.

Bosnia-Herzegovina: 18th annual Sarajevo Film Festival opens (to July 14).

Russia/France: International festival "Russian Culture Days with Pierre Cardin" opens in Lacoste (to July 8).


SATURDAY, July 7:

UN: International Day of Cooperatives.


SUNDAY, July 8:

Afghanistan: Tokyo hosts an international ministerial conference on support for Afghanistan.

Armenia: International film festival Golden Apricot opens in Yerevan (to July 15).

Iraq: New hearing in the trial of Iraq's fugitive Tariq al-Hashimi is scheduled to begin in Baghdad.

Russia: Family, Love, and Fidelity Day.
