MONDAY, September 24:

Belarus: The international observers monitoring the parliamentary elections in Belarus present their preliminary postelection statement at a news conference in Minsk.

EU: Brussels hosts an EU General Affairs Council meeting.

Kazakhstan: UN Special Rapporteur Gulnara Shahinian visits Kazakhstan to assess a number of initiatives developed by the authorities to prevent the worst forms of child labor and forced and bonded labor.

Moldova/EU: EU Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy Stefan Fuele meets with Molodvan Parliament Speaker Marian Lupu in Brussels.

OSCE: Europe's largest annual human rights and democracy conference, the Human Dimension Implementation Meeting (HDIM), opens in Warsaw (to October 5).

Ukraine/EU: EU Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy Stefan Fuele meets with Ukrainian First Deputy Prime Minister Valeriy Khoroshkovsky in Brussels.

Afghanistan: Afghan President Hamid Karzai is scheduled to address UN General Assembly in New York.

Azerbaijan/Turkmenistan: An Azerbaijani delegation, headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov, visits Turkmenistan.

EU/Ukraine: European Policy Center hosts a discussion titled "Ukraine’s Parliamentary Elections: The Final Countdown" in Brussels.

Georgia: Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili addresses UN General Assembly in New York, meets with EU President Van Rompuy.

Moldova/EU: The president of the European Parliament, Martin Schulz, meets with Molodvan Parliament Speaker Marian Lupu in Brussels.

Pakistan: Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari is scheduled to address UN General Assembly in New York.
