Police in Spain say they have arrested a man convicted in Serbia for involvement in the 2003 assassination of Serbian Prime Minister Zoran Djindjic.
Police were quoted as saying Vladimir Milisavljevic was arrested in a restaurant in the eastern coastal city of Valencia on February 9.
Milisavljevic had been sentenced in Serbia to 35 years for his involvement in the Djindjic murder and to another 40 years for other crimes. He had been on the run since 2007.
Milisavljevic was arrested along with Luka Bojovic, the reputed Serbian leader of a crime gang, and Sinisa Petric, described as a member of the gang.
Police said Bojovic is wanted for some 20 crimes in Serbia, the Netherlands, and Spain.
They also said the arrests followed a 20-month long operation in cooperation with authorities in Serbia and the Netherlands.
