Egyptian state media reports that Hosni Mubarak, the country's ousted former president, will be transferred from prison to a military hospital.
It was not immediately clear when or why Mubarak, who is serving a life sentence, would be moved.
Major General Muhammed Ibrahim, the chief of Egypt's Prison's Department, said public prosecutor Talaat Ibrahim agreed to the transfer after receiving a recommendation for the move in a medical report.
Mubarak was taken to the same Cairo military hospital for several hours last week for medical tests after he reportedly suffered head and rib injuries in a fall.
Mubarak is in prison for his role in deadly attacks against Egyptian demonstrators who called for his ouster nearly two years ago.
