An EgyptAir passenger plane heading from Cairo to Beijing has made an emergency landing in Uzbekistan due to a bomb threat.
Egyptians officials said on June 8 that the plane, an Airbus A-330-220 with 135 people on board, was evacuated and searched after landing in the Uzbek city of Urgench, some 840 kilometers west of the Uzbek capital, Tashkent.
The officials were quoted as saying EgyptAir received an anonymous call claiming that there was a bomb on board the flight.
No explosives were found, they also said, and the plane later resumed its flight to Beijing.
The Egyptian airline has received a number of bomb threats since one of its aircraft crashed into the Mediterranean Sea on May 19, killing all 66 people onboard. All have turned out to be hoaxes.
