The first round of the Eurovision contest semifinals in the Azerbaijani capital, Baku, ended on May 22 with musical groups from Russia, Albania, Moldova, Romania, Spain, Denmark, Cyprus, Greece, Iceland, and Ireland advancing to the final on May 26.

European voters have picked the last 10 finalists for competition when the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest culminates in Baku on May 26.

Musical acts from Serbia, Macedonia, Ukraine, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Norway, Estonia, Turkey, Sweden, Malta, and Lithuania advanced to the final.

The first semifinal, on May 22, produced finalists from Russia, Albania, Moldova, Romania, Spain, Denmark, Cyprus, Greece, Iceland, and Ireland.

The Eurovision contest has grown in popularity in recent years, with the televised event expected to be watched by an estimated 125 million people worldwide.

It has also drawn attention to host Azerbaijan's miserable record on human rights, free media, and corruption.

What an amazingly beautiful voice. Nice to see someone original and breaking the mould in Eurovision. I think it will be a very interesting contest on May 26. BRAAVO

I think that this is an amazing song, that deserves to win! Unfortunately such songs are not appreciated, as they deserve, by eurovision voters... btw congrats to albania for the choice

Thank god, we have the RFE/RL - to help us focus on things that are really important in life, such as the Eurovision contest. Becaus other mass media just talk about some unimportant crap today: the French president Hollande went to Afghanistan to officially announce his decision to withdraw the French troops from this country; one of the biggest Spanish banks (Bankia) is intensively going bankrupt further dragging the Eurozone closer to implosion...

Meine Liebling EuGenio,we heard and read all about that on radio the Voice of putin,the Lubyanka Herald and Volksstimme as well as in jackie`s posts -its good to see you believe in God although your god seems to be a fallen angel.Keep up the good work in the Eastern Reich-it will be the real 1000year Reich,as soon as the anschluss to russia is completed.
