In the United States, officials say a prosecutor is expected to clear of wrongdoing an FBI agent over the fatal shooting of a Chechen man who was being questioned in connection to the Boston Marathon bombings.

Officials said Jeff Ashton, an attorney for the state of Florida, will not bring charges against the FBI agent who shot 27-year-old Ibragim Todashev in May 2013.

Ashton is expected to make a formal announcement on March 25.

Todashev was being questioned in Orlando, Florida, about his ties to Tamerlan Tsarnayev, the eldest of the two Chechen brothers suspected of planting two bombs along the course of the Boston Marathon in April 2013.

Those blasts killed three people and wounded more than 260 others.

Tamerlan Tsarnayev was killed in shoot-out with police. His brother is facing trial.
