French President's South Caucasus Visit 'Not Aimed Against Anyone'

By RFE/RL's Azerbaijani Service
French President Francois Holland told reporters after meeting with Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev in Baku that his trip to the South Caucasus is to promote settlement for the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and territorial disputes in Georgia.

Hollande said France supports the "territorial integrity of countries and the resolution of conflicts within their territorial integrity."

He added that his visit to the region is also related to the Ukraine crisis.

"The visit to the Caucasus is not aimed against anyone," he said. "Our purpose is to contribute to developing relations between Europe and independent partners. We don't want to prevent someone from cooperating with anyone."

The French president is expected to arrive to Yerevan later on May 12 before later completing his trip by visiting Georgia.
