Five men accused of raping and killing a female student in New Delhi have made their first appearance in court, where they were informed of the full list of charges against them.
The magistrate hearing the case ordered that their appearance take place behind closed doors after chaotic scenes erupted in the packed courtroom and delayed the proceedings.
Police have charged the men with kidnap, rape, murder, and other crimes.
They face the death penalty for the December 16 attack, which has caused global outrage and sparked massive protests across India.
A sixth suspect, who is 17 years old, will be tried in a juvenile court.
The six men are accused of raping and torturing the 23-year-old physiotherapy student and beating her male friend on a bus in New Delhi.
She died two weeks later in a Singapore hospital.
