A United Nations committee has decided to take no action in connection with the Unites States' refusal to grant a visa to Tehran's nominee to be Iran's ambassador to the UN.

The committee chairman, Cyprus UN Ambassador Nicholas Emilou, said on April 22 that the issue remains on the committee's agenda and may be reviewed again in the future.

U.S. President Barack Obama on April 18 signed an order preventing Hamid Abutalebi from entering the United States because he allegedly participated in the 1979 takeover of the U.S. Embassy in Tehran.

Iran has accused the United States of abusing its control over the geographical location of the UN.

A UN spokesman said the dispute was "a unique case" in the history of the United Nations.
