Iran Pilots Die In Military Jet Crash

TEXT SIZE - +
In Iran, officials say a U.S.-made F-14 Iranian fighter jet has crashed in the Bushehr province of southern Iran.

Iranian Fars News Agency quotes officials as saying both the pilot and the co-pilot were killed in the January 26 crash.

The report says technical failure is suspected of being the cause of the downing.

Iran owns a fleet of U.S.-manufactured aircraft that Tehran bought before the Islamic Revolution of 1979.

Reports say international sanctions targeting Iran's nuclear program have hindered Iran's ability to maintain the fleet.
