April Was Deadliest Month In Iraq Since 2008

The United Nation's mission in Iraq has said that April was the deadliest month in that country since June 2008.

In a statement, the UN Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) said 712 people were killed and 1,633 injured in acts of terrorism and violence in Iraq in April.

Most of the victims were civilians, with 595 dead and 1,438 injured.

One-hundred-seventeen members of the Iraqi security forces were killed and 195 were injured.

The worst violence was seen in Baghdad and in Diyalah, Salahuddin, Kirkuk, Ninewa, and Anbar provinces.
