The OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media Dunja Mijatović today condemned attacks targeting journalists and media outlets in Simferapol, Donetsk and Kharkiv.

“I call on all responsible parties to ensure safety of journalists...and to stop interfering with their work,” Mijatović said in a statement issued yesterday.

Mijatovic added, "that in difficult and sensitive situations such as the current one in Ukraine, media freedom and plurality of opinions must be ensured.”

RFE/RL reporters were among several journalists who were assaulted by protesters in Kharkiv and Donestsk on March 2.

Law enforcement officers who were present did not intervene.
