As violence descends again on much of Iraq, RFE/RL Radio Free Iraq correspondent Nihad Al-Bayati found himself at the scene of a shoot-out in Kirkuk on December 4, where he was trapped until late at night as police cordoned off the area and searched for remaining militants. Al-Bayati captured this dramatic video.

Gunmen attacked the headquarters of a police intelligence unit in Kirkuk, northern Iraq, sparking a shoot-out with police that left at least five people dead. Several of the attackers set off suicide bombs before police regained control of the building.

More reporting from Radio Free Iraq is here.
