The List: Iran's Jailed Journalists

TEXT SIZE - +
"The List" is the work of staff members of Radio Farda, RFE/RL's Farsi speaking service, and is the product of information they glean from relatives, friends, colleagues and lawyers of the detainees. Radio Farda draws on the research of other media advocacy and human rights groups, including Reporters without Borders, Human Rights Campaign for Iran, the Committee to Protect Journalists, Scott Lucas, and Radio Zamaneh, that seek to combat and document violations of free speech. The list will be updated as new information becomes available.

Note that we keep the names of the journalists who have been released. According to the experience of the past few months some detainees who have been released were taken back to prison (in some cases for several times). Some have been set free following the payment of exorbitant bail while others remain under constant watch of the authorities. One recently released journalist says it's like "being in a bigger prison called Iran."
